Fellow SW Region Members,

If you've read the opportunity below and you and/or members of your adjusting staff are interested in attending the Appraisal Certification Class being held at our regional meeting February 27th at the Watermark Hotel in Baton Rouge, please let Bill Schulenberg know as soon as you can.

Joel Moore

Hello NAIIA Southwest Region member,

We have an opportunity to provide training for our NAIIA members to receive Certified Insurance Appraiser and Certified Insurance Umpire designations.  It can be offered at the Southwest Regional Conference in February, pending interest from members.  Joel Moore has provided the below description:

The National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters (NAIIA) in partnership with the Society of Registered Professional Adjusters (RPA) is pleased to announce a national certification program for training property appraisers and umpires throughout the United States. This program is open only to NAIIA members and successful completion of the training will result in the participants receiving the Certified Insurance Appraiser (CIA) and Certified Insurance Umpire (CIU) designations.

Training in the appraisal process and promulgation of the NAIIA approved forms will be conducted by Kevin Hromas – JD, RPA, PLCS, CPIU - Houston, TX. This portion of the program will encompass the first 2 hours of training.

Training in the current laws governing the appraisal process in each state will be conducted by noted attorneys from various regions of the country who are recognized experts in the appraisal process and how the legal climate has addressed the various issues surrounding the legal aspects of the process. This portion will encompass 4 hours of the training.

The attorney who have agreed to assist in this program is Ron Tigner with Cozen & O'Conner, Houston, Texas.

We would be looking at adding this training seminar to the beginning of the conference - having the training Wednesday, February 27th at the Watermark. That would mean for most of you who are traveling would need to check in on Tuesday February 27th, 2019. The cost of the certification is $200.00. Following completion of the course and upon successfully passing the test at the end of the class, your name will be added to a designated tab on the NAIIA website that allows for a searchable function to find state-specific qualified individuals as appraisers or umpires.

Please reply as soon as possible if this training is something you'd be interested in or not.  We are working with The Watermark to confirm the reduced room rate would apply for check in on February 26th. Based on the response, we will let everyone know if this will be offered at our meeting in February.
